It happened on May last year. Over 60 family and friends flying in from all over the US to attend the lovely couple’s wedding. In case you don’t know where Belize is, it is located South of Mexico and next to Guatemala. You can fly in from Miami and get there in 2 hours. One thing about Belize that really impressed me was their hospitality. Everyone was so friendly and speak very fluent English. There are no policeman in the area, and the population was made up of 6 different ethnic groups. Some countries in this world need to take serious notes from these guys. Pete and Kim chose Robert’s Grove as their Wedding location. A pretty secluded area where the airport is smaller than US Shopping Mall’s parking lot. We stayed at the Robert’s Grove, and we had our own swimming pool and bar stocked with everything we need. Well, you can figure how the trip went by looking at the pictures below.

The festivities started with the Welcoming of the Guests followed by the slideshow prepared by Pete’s friends.

Then the next day, we embarked on to a privately owned island about 2 hours away for Scuba, Snorkel and “A Day in the Sun”. In fact, everyone jumped in and they forgot to do the cake cutting and the first dance. 🙂

The morning after, we headed out to a nearby bar which is conveniently built above the water. Apparently this place is jumpin’ at nightime. To get there, we need to catch the boatride from the only gas station in Placencia. Placensia is a nearby town, where most of the tourists go when they visit southern Belize. Like other parts of Belize, you can only find mom and pop’s restaurants in the city and none of the US chain’s fast food stores or Starbucks in sight. What a relief.

Most of the houses in Placencia are built on a platform. In early 2002, the hurricane Iris wiped out most part of Placencia and the town had to be rebuilt from scratch. According to the residents, the town was even more beautiful that it is now. I can only imagine.

Very friendly mayan kids.

Downtown Placencia,

The tiny airport……

Sadly, it is time to say goodbye to Belize.
