Chrissy’s husband contacted me to photograph the fun Birthday party for Chrissy at the Hotel Valencia in Santana Row shopping center in San Jose. CA. He mentioned that he also regard photography as his main hobby and he loves candid images with a lot of punch, saturation and candid emotion. So I promise him that I will do my best and use my best interpretation of the scene that I am trying to photograph just what I always aim to do.
Hotel Valencia recently added a tent cover in their roof courtyard which is a great move, because you can have a great party on the courtyard even on a wet winter evening. The tent was well heated and plenty of room to host more than 100 people in that big tent. Chrissy’s family flew in from all over part of the country, the lively Birthday Party was atttended by kids all the way to the older generations. I began the night with taking step and repeat photos of the family then I roamed around the room. I have included some the images down below.
A great jazz band provided the music playing some old classics from Ella, Jobim and Nancy Sinatra. What a fun night it was and you can tell from the posted images below. I added my own strobes gelled with colors to add some punch to the images, and Chrissy’s husband was very pleased with the result. You can see his review of my work here on yelp.
