Whenever I am not shooting a Wedding, I really enjoy photographing private events like 1st Birthday Party Celebration or family reunion. I’m often approached by my clients to photograph the 1st Birthday especially by the Indian Families. It is customary for the families to throw big parties for the 1st Birthday. Some parties are pretty lavish and everyone they know are invited. It is basically a big party for the grown ups. 🙂 Of course, their kids are also invited.
One interesting custom that often practised at the Indian 1st Birthday Celebration is the Cake Feeding. The Birthday child is usually fed by the parents and then followed by the grandparents, uncles and aunts. Then everyone else will follow. After that, the cake everyone can have the cake. Apparently. sometimes the Cake Feeding can be a chance for the younger family to smother an older family member’s face with the cake. Sounds like fun, right? But I have not seen it happened yet. 🙂
